Riot Police Watch and Hinder Social Pickets

On 30 September in Minsk the activists of the Party of Communists of Belarus Valery Ukhnaliou, Dzmitry Yanenka and a journalist Henadz Sharypkin were detained while handing out the issue of the Tovarishch newspaper that was dedicated to the Social March (appointed on 4 November). The detainees were taken to Savetski district police department of Minsk, but no reports were drawn. 

On 30 September social pickets were to have been held all over the country. However, only 2 of 458 applications for authorization of pickets were satisfied. After this the organizers of the Social March decided to go out on the streets and hand out leaflets and Tovarishch newspaper. 

At 9 a.m. in Svetlahorsk the police detained the PCB member Sviatlana Mikhalchanka for handing out leaflets dedicated to the Social March. The leaflets had output data. Nevertheless, the woman was taken to the police station. 

In Zhlobin the police tried to detain a public distributor of Tovarishch, retired police colonel Viktar Balenkou. Balenkou was stopped by the platoon leader of traffic police Arsiukhou who stated that Balenkou was suspected in theft of office supplies from the local executive committee and that’s why it was necessary to search his car. The car was searched, but no office supplies were found. 

In Minsk region the police detained a PCB member Siarhei Abrazouski. He handed out Tovarishch at the market of the settlement of Pukhavichy.
