Luninets: BPF representative in district election commission

Yury Svita, member of BPF Adradzhennie NGO, became member of district election commission. The commission in Luninets has 13 people, which is a maximal number of commission members. The commission is composed of 5 people nominated by work collectives, 2 – by NGOs, 2 – by political parties, 2 – by citizens, 1 – by the executive committee, and 1 – by the presidium of the regional Council.

Pinsk: KGB bothers activists

Pinsk observers from Belarusian Helsinki Committee were summoned to KGB and police for interrogation after the blast in Minsk. On July 7th KGB officers visited the apartment of Paval Liakhnovich. That could possibly end with the detention of the activist, but one day before that Paval, also a member of Kalehium NGO, took a group of children for a tour and was not at home. Liaknovich’s wife Liudmila had to meet the unexpected guests herself. According to her, KGB officers behaved properly, they did not try to intimidate or threaten her. The search warrant they showed was signed by Minsk prosecutor.

Mahiliou: Observer not admitted to session of district election commission

Observer from BPF Adradzhennie Tatsiana Bulanava was not admitted to the session of the election commission in district # 84. According to Tatsiana, the chair of the commission told her they had received a list of registered parties and organizations from the deputy head of Mahiliou justice department. She claimed BPF Adradzhennie was not on the list.

Homel: Siarhei Serhiyenka questioned in the blast case

Siarhei Serhiyenka, UDF candidate in 35th election district was summoned today to Savetski district police department of Homel. In the summons, signed by senior officer E. Masliukou, Serhiyenka’s status was indicated as a “witness”. At the same time, the case in which Serhiyenka was supposed to testify, was not mentioned. The investigator who talked with the witness asked questions about the blast on July 3rd: where Serhiyenka was in the night of the blast, and if he had a car.

Homel: First initiative group denied registration

On July 22nd election commission of Homel district # 33 denied registration to Piotr Kuznetsou’s initiative group. During the session of the commission it turned out that not all documents were correct. However, the commission members did not say a word when the documents were submitted. The documents lacked information about the workplace of the UDF candidate.

Mahiliou: BPF and PCB are least represented in district commissions

93 people became members of district commissions through signature collection, 27 people were nominated by work collectives, 12 – by BRSM (pro-governmental youth union), 9 – by Belarusian Association of Veterans, 7 – by Belarusian Union of Women, 7 – by Belaya Rus organization, 3 – by Communist Party of Belarus, 3 – by Belarusian Trade Union of Agroindustrial Complex, 2 – by Belarusian Association of Veterans of the War in Afghanistan, 2 – by Republican Party of Labor and Justice, 1 – by Belarusian Agrarian party, 1 – by pro-democratic Party of Communists of Belarus, 1 – by Liberal Democratic Party, and 1 – by BPF Adradzhennie NGO.
