YOUNG FRONT CAME OUT IN SUPPORT OF VIASNA

Young Front writes in its letter: “Young Front expresses deep indignation at persecution and threat of liquidation to the Human Rights Center "Viasna". Viasna is known in Belarus and abroad as an organization actively fighting for the rights of Belarusian citizens and non-governmental organizations to defend them from undemocratic repressive authorities.
The Human Rights Center "Viasna" took part in a number of election campaigns in order to ensure elections to be free and fair, and was always persecuted by the Belarusian regime for that.
Young Front considers possible liquidation of the Human Rights Center "Viasna" as just another step to threaten and exterminate organizations which defend others from willfulness, persecution and repression of the Lukashenka regime. We also consider the trial over Viasna a continuation of the campaign against the civic society uncontrolled by the authorities. Young Front considers persecution of Viasna a political aggression against Human Rights Defenders and demands the Justice Ministry should immediately stop all actions directed at liquidation of the human rights organization”.
