NARODNAYA VOLYA TO PAY 5,000 USD TO RYBAKOW

Court decided the Narodnaya Volya should pay 5 thousand USD to Yahor Rybakow, holding information the newspaper published in October 2001 invalid.On 26 September Leninski borough court of Minsk invalidated information, published in Maryna Koktysh’s article “Eleanora Yazerskaya: Five Pounds of Love”, reports RFE/RL. In the article Eleanora Yazerskaya stated that Yahor Rybakow “ruined Belarusian TV”, and accused him of connection to death of several ex-employees.
Judge Siarhei Khrypach ruled to enforce compensation of 10 million rubles (about 5 thousand dollars) from the newspaper, and 1 million rubles from Maryna Koktysh and Eleanora Yazerskaya. During the next 10 days the newspaper also should refute the information and publish apologies of Maryna Koktysh and Eleanora Yazerskaya.
