Hanchar’s mother Valiantsina Adamawna and sister Halina Iosifawna addressed the Minister of Justice, expressing their concern about the Ministry’s intention to liquidate the Human Rights Center "Viasna". In their letter they write: “As you know, my son is a lawyer. He had a lot of friends and acquaintances among your colleagues. Unfortunately, after September 16, 1999, many of them, probably, were frightened, or just did not want to support my son’s family.
We are very grateful to the human rights organization "Viasna", which held out a helping hand to my daughter-in-law and grandson. It’s really a pity you are going to close down this organization. Doing that you deprive my son’s family of the possibility to receive help and support
Think twice before making a hasty decision. Do not hurt either Viktar’s family or other people who need help”.
