AUTHORITIES BAN STREET RALLY IN CITY CENTER.

20.11.2003.

Minsk City Executive Committee says, Young Front activists can have a rally only in Bangalor Square, far from the city center.
Young Front leader Paval Severynets told Radio Liberty, despite the ban the “No False Referendums!” action would start 5.30 p.m. November 24 in Yakub Kolas Square. Severynets believes a protest action against possible referendum on the third term for Alexander Lukashenka should take place only in the center of Minsk.
The protest march and rally are timed to the 7th anniversary of the Constitutional referendum of 1996. One of the action organizers Artur Finkevich is serving his 15-days term in jail for leaflet distribution.
