International League of Human Rights Supports “BDG”

26.02.2004.

On 24 February the International League of Human Rights filed an open letter to the Belarusian leader Aliaksandr Lukashenka expressing its concern with the events concerning the independent newspaper “BDG”, such as the recent verdict of the Supreme Economic Court that left in force the warning to the edition. The ILHR characterized it as one more assault on the newspaper that had already received several warnings and called A. Lukashenka to stop pressurization of independent mass media and guarantee to journalists the right to unimpeded work.
