Preliminary Interrogation of Aksana Novikava

On 7 April Aksana Novikava was summoned to Minsk Transport Prosecutor’s Office for preliminary investigation, for finding out the details of the case. The investigator of Minsk Transport Prosecutor’s Office Yury Padolski discriminated who distributed the anti-Presidential fly-sheets, how many such fly-sheets were produced. It was preliminary interrogation without summon of witnesses. It is still unclear when the next interrogation will be conducted, but Aksana Novikava remains a suspect in the criminal case on libeling President Lukashenka (part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus).

On 6 April Minsk Transpartny Prosecutor’s Office initiated the criminal case concerning the fact that at 5 p.m. on 12 April Aksana Novikava distributed the fly-sheets where it was stated that Aliaksandr Lukashenka and authorities of the law machinery had relation to kidnaps of people and other felonies.

We should remind that in February 2004 the Committee on Execution of Punishments amnestied Aksana Novikava, who was punished for insult to President with two years of conditional imprisonment.
