Road Police Take Driving License of BPF Activist Away and Seize His Car for ''Expert Examination"

27.04.2004.

Andrei Sukhaverkhi, a BPF activist, was detained on 26 April near the BPF office. People in plain clothes attacked his car and tried to stop it, although they had no police IDs with them. One of them bumped against the bonnet of the car which was moving at a minimal speed. Andrei Sukhaverkhi immediately stopped the car when road police appeared. The road police drew up a scheme of the traffic accident, which Sukhaverkhi refused to sign claiming the car had been attacked by strangers in plain clothes with no police badges. The road police took Sukhaverkhi’s license away and seized his car for "expert examination".
On 27 April at 12 a.m. Andrei Sukhaverkhi got his car back.
