Malaryta District Court Satisfies Suit of Belarusian People’s Front

On 30 July Malaryta District Court (Brest region) satisfied the suit of Belarusian People’s Front to the head of the department of ideological work of Malaryta District Executive Committee Siarhey Strok, who had publicly stated that during World War II BPF Party actively collaborated with fascists.

The court obliged Strok to disprove his statement in the regional newspaper, established by Malaryda District Executive Committee, pay 95 000 rubles of state tax and 4 160 000 rubles to the state.

The lawyers of the Human Rights Center “Viasna” Uladzimir Labkovich and Valiantsin Stefanovich represented the interests of the BPF Party at the trial.

Labkovich: -- We are very glad with the impeccable way the trial was lead and with the excellent knowledge of Belarusian legislation by the court.

We should remind that on 25 April, during the assembly in the village of Struha, organized on the initiative of the deputy of Malaryta District Deputy Soviet Uladzimir Maley Siarhey Strok stated that there was no use listening to opposition:
-- I will tell you more. This comrade (if he can be called so) Uladzimir Maley – is a member of the BPF Party that supported the fascist Germany in the years of World War II, when you were young.
