BPF Complaint Turned Down

On August 9 the Board of Minsk city court did not satisfy the complaint of BPF party.BPF complained against the actions of Pershamaiski court. On July 12 the court refused to consider the BPF suit to the state TV company and journalist Yury Prakopaw for defamation of the party.
In the show of April 25 Yury Prakopaw said BPF would stop all support programs to the victims of Chernobyl disaster as soon as BPF got the power.
Pershamaiski borough court decided: “This debate is in the sphere of political discussion which is forming the political views of citizens. That’s why it is not subject of court consideration”. On 9 August the Board of Minsk city court upheld the decision.
Human Rights Center "Viasna" lawyer Valantsin Stefanovich says: “We do not agree with such a decision. The party was deprived of the right to justice. What do they mean by a political debate? They just spread information which is simply not the truth”.
