Viasna Lawyer Tried In Biaroza

Alexander Shavel, lawyer of the human rights center “Viasna”, is to be tried in Biaroza.On August 18 he took part in a civil trial.
After the hearing was over and all process participants left the courtroom, Alexander Shavel made a critical remark to the prosecutor. The prosecutor ran back, yelling: “he’s insulted me, this is contempt of court!” The police took him from the courtroom he to a police station. Soon the human rights activist will be tried for contempt of court.
