EU Declares Head of Central Election Committee of Belarus and Police Colonel Personae Non-grata

08.12.2004.

According to Charter’97 with reference to Reuters

The European Union decided to prohibit the entrance to its territory to the police colonel Padabed who took part in the beating of Anatol Liabedzka during the protest action of 20 October and the head of the Central Election Committee of Belarus Lidziya Yarmoshyna.

This decision was taken within the sanctions towards Belarusian authorities after the referendum of 17 October about the continuation of the presidential powers of Aliaksandr Lukashenka.

In September the EU prohibited entrance to Viktar Sheyman, who at that time was prosecutor general, the minister of internal affairs Uladzimir Navumaw, the minister of sport Yury Sivakow and the police colonel Zmiser Pawlichenka.
