Uladzimir Pleshchanka Is Hospitalized as a Result of Police Actions

05.02.2005.

The police detained several members of Christian Conservative Party Belarusian People’s Front in Vitsebsk for holding the poster about creation of the initiative group concerning the nomination of Zianon Pazniak as a candidate to presidency. After a talk with the police the opposition activist Uladzimir Pleshchanka felt bad and was hospitalized. He said the following on the phone when being at the hospital:

-- The police arrived and started shouting. I felt bad because of it and demanded from them to call an ambulance. The doctors came and checked my blood pressure. It was too high. I was driven to cardiologic department and was given many injections.

When Pleshchanka felt better, the doctors let him go home, but said that politics was contraindicative for him and it would be especially harmful to agitate for Pazniak and hope that the next presidential election would be fair, unlike the previous one.

Barys Khamayda was taken to Vitsebsk Chyhunachny Borough Board of Internal Affairs for handing out the newspapers Byvar and Belorusskaya Delovaya Gazeta but was soon let go.
