On 18 February the court of Minsk Region reduced the term of imprisonment for the civil and political activist Mikhail Marynich to three years and six months.

On 30 December 2004 the politician was sentenced to five years in prison in a maxium security prison with his property seized by the government. The authoritative human rights groups Amnesty International recognized Mikhail Marynich to be a prisoner of conscience.Add commentary
