Criminal proceedings initiated for 25 March events in Minsk

Criminal proceedings initiated for an action held to commemorate the 87th anniversary of declaration of the Belarusian People’s Republic. During the action around 30 participants were detained.The case was instituted by terms of Art. 342 of the Criminal Code – "organization of group actions that disrupt public order, or active involvement in such actions". This article provides for a fine or arrest for up to 6 months, or restricted freedom for up to 3 years, or imprisonment for up to 3 years.
