The US Embassy is Concerned about Homel Incident

The US Embassy expressed its concern over the 23 August detention of it member of staff Laila McMillan in Homel, who was going to have a meeting with the Homel political activists in a privately-owned apartment. Acting with the assumed city operation "Illegal Alien" the police kept the US diplomat and his assistant for 40 minutes in the apartment.The official commentary provided by the embassy said that the detention of the diplomat is being discussed with the Belarusian officials.
Homel Regional Department for Nationality and Migration told BelaPAN that the Illegal Alien operation had been conducted in the city a long time ago.
