The case of the political prisoner Siarhei Skrabiets is now being additionally investigated in the Supreme Court

This is the information provided to Radio Liberty by the lawyer Alieh Dubaviets, who still deals with the case of the renowned opposition politician, the former deputy and leader of the group Respublika. According to the lawyer, the case will be with the investigator until January 3, 2006.
Aliaxandra, Siarhei Skrabiets’ wife, says that her husband still kept in the remand prison in Valadarskaha Street in Minsk continues his third hunger-strike started on November 1.
Siarhei Skrabiets is officially accused of having committed three crimes: swindling the state out of credits, illegal business activity and preparation to give an especially large bribe. He was arrested in the middle of May. At the beginning he was kept in Brest Remand Prison, where he observed an almost 40 day long hunger-strike. Then he was taken to the remand prison in Minsk.
