Hrodna Regional Court chaired by Judge Pipko decided to force liquidation of the Hrodna City Public Association “Higher Belarusian School Association”.

On December 15 Hrodna Regional Court considered the application filed by the justice department of Hrodna Regional Executive Committee and decided to force liquidation of the Hrodna City Public Association “Higher Belarusian School Association”, which was re-registered by the justice department of Hrodna Regional Executive Committee on September 30 1999.
The application filed by the justice department said that the public association “Belarusian Higher School Association” had not gone through re-registration as ordered by the decree of the President of Belarus dated May 1 2005 No.247 “On additional measures to insure more consistent use of the words “national” and “Belarusia”. This law stipulates that the activity of the organizations and mass media that have not been re-registered is illegal and will be banned.
During the proceedings in court the chair of the justice department Mr. Khiliuta fully supported the demands and asked for forced liquidation of the named public association.
After considering the evidence presented by the representative of the justice department, the opinion of the procurator who has examined the written documents, the court thought it necessary to decide on the liquidation of the “Belarusian Higher School Association”. (pahonia.promedia.by)
