Svietlahorsk District Branch of Belarusian Language Association named after Frantsishak Skaryna (BLA) still does not have premises.

The Svietlahorsk branch of the Belarusian Language Association has operated since 1990. Since 1999 the legal address of the organization has been in a building earlier on the city balance. Now all of this building has been transferred by the local authorities onto the republican balance, and further functioning of the legal address became impossible. So the council of the district branch of BLA appealed to the local executive committee, requesting other premises to be rented.
The BLA Council prepared an appeal, where, in particular, it referred to the incumbent Resolution of the Council of Ministers “Questions from BLA named after F.Skaryna" of 19 February 1991 No.56. Item 5 of this resolution says: “The executive committees shall provide the Belarusian Language Association named after F.Skaryna premises for their branches to be created”.
In his response Mr. Mierkulau, the assistant chair of the district executive committee, said: “Today the district does not own premises, which it can offer as legal addresses to public organizations and their branches".
