Svietlahorsk police prevented people from agitating in favor of the presidential candidate Aliaxandr Milinkievich

27.02.2006.

On 25 February four police officers took Viktar Akhramchuk and Sviatlana Mikhalchanka to the police station to keep them there for over 30 minutes. Police Major Piotr Zykun, the deputy chief of the district department of internal affairs also arrived there. The police attempted to tell the citizens that handing out election materials in the street is illegal. The police said that it was a "walking picket".
When the public activists were released they both resumed to hand out agitation materials in favor of Milinkievich, reported Radio Liberty.
