Ukrainian Delegation Is Deported from Belarus

On 2 March the chair of the Ukrainian civil party Pora Vladyslav Kaskiv, its vice-chair Serhiy Yevtushenko, the press-secretary Marianna Postar were deported from the airport Minsk-2, to which they arrived from Kyiv. This delegation came to Minsk in order to familiarize with the pre-electoral situation in Belarus. The Ukrainians were detained by the KGB department of terrorism, the workers of which stated the stay of the delegation in Belarus was ‘undesirable’. Six journalists of the Ukrainian TV channels 1+1, 5th Channel and Tonis that arrived together with the party delegation, managed to talk the KGB workers into leaving them in Belarus.In his interview to the press-center of Charter’97 Serhiy Yevtushenko called this incident legal boundlessness and stated Pora would issue an appropriate statement.
