Independent Observers Registered about 200 Violations at Polling Stations and outside Them

20.03.2006.

Among the violations - extrusion of independent observers from polling stations and refusals to present information about the pace of the election. ‘We think that the violations were massive and in each case we composed official papers and filed them to supreme election commissions and the procurator’s office’, -- stated to BelaPAN the chair of the public association Belarusian National Club of Electors (BNCE) Uladzimir Hudzeieu.

According to the independent observers, in Mahiliou region there have been filed 20 complaints to the procurator’s office, 14 - to the election commissions of Homel region, 49 violation acts have been composed for absence of stands with information about candidates, inconvenient placing of observers so that they couldn’t see the voters throw in the ballots, home visits to those who haven’t asked for home voting, absence of voters in the electoral lists and presence of the dead in the lists. Seven acts have been composed for non-implementation of the norms of sealing and keeping the ballot boxes.

’We think that by the end of the voting we will have yet more information about violations’, said Mr Hudzeieu.

It’s worth reminding that the public association Belarusian National Club of Voters directed about 3 000 of independent observers to the presidential election. According to Hudzeieu, they could cover about a half of the 6,5 thousand of the polling stations. The total number of the organization’s members is about 8 000. They have monitored elections since 2000.
