Minsk Savetski Borough Court Sentences Public Activists to Arrest

In the evening of 18 March in Minsk the police detained the activist Vasil Lepesh at the office of the Belarusian Student Association. Before the trial Mr Lepesh was kept at the detention center in Akrestsin St. On 20 March Minsk Savetski Borough Court sentenced him to 3 days of jail.

This very court also tried Ivan Marozau, who was detained at the rock concert in Banhalor Square of Minsk on 18 March.

Barys Haretski - 7 days of jail
Uladzimir Iukho - 7 days of jail,
Iury Karetnikau -- 7 days of jail,
Dzmitry Matselski - 5 days of jail,
Siarhei Salash - 3 days of jail,
Iauhen Skarabutan - 5 days of jail,
Siarhei Vysotski - 5 days of jail,

All of them were accused of violation of article 156 of the Code of Administrative Arrest, ‘petty hooliganism’. The majority of the public and political activists who are imprisoned all over the country are sentenced to prison terms for alleged violation of this article.
