VITEBSK: HEAD OF MILINKEVICH’S HQ DETAINED BREST: ACTIVIST OF MILINKEVICH’S HQ ARRESTED

VITEBSK: At 5.15 p.m. the police detained head of Vitebsk HQ of the single candidate on suspicion of a crime. Christafor Zhelapau was to meet with the local activists in “Uskhod” café. The police detained him on his way there. Zhelapau was taken to Kastrychnitski police department, from where he managed to make a telephone call and inform about the circumstances of his detention. He says, police followed him for several days waiting for the moment when he was alone.
At the doors of “Uskhod” café Christafor was approached by police officers who claimed he looked similar to a criminal they were looking for. The opposition activist was taken to a police station for alleged identification of his personality.

BREST: secretary of city HQ of the single candidate Uladzimir Krasko was arrested for 7 days. He was accused of using obscene language in the presence of children. The police detained Mr. Krasko after the election on the ground of anonymous report that he had been using obscene language near children. Uladzimir Krasko serves his term in Leninski police jail of Brest. Two more activists of Milinkevich’s headquarters – Zmitser Filipchuk and Andrei Karpuk – are sentenced to 2 days in jail each. They were accused of disorderly conduct. Filipchuk and Karpuk were released since they had spent the terms in jail waiting for the trial, reports RFE/RL.
