Journalist Mikola Markevich Cannot Leave the Country

Mikola Markevich filed his documents to Leninski visas and registration department of Hrodna for a new passport and a stamp “valid for travel to all countries of the world”. However, the staff of the institution refuses to return the passport with the stamp. They refer to the KGB which, as they say, does not give permission to do that.Mikola Markevich considers these actions absolutely illegal. Besides other facts, he is one of the directors of Radio Racyja which has recently started to operate. The radio HQs are located in Bialystok, Poland. The radio broadcasts its programs from Poland to Belarus.
