Police Coerce Hunger Strikers From Salihorsk

Salihorsk police removed a streamer Freedom to political prisoners! which was on the balcony of the apartment where the hunger strike of the Young Front activists from Salihorsk is held. As the Charter97 press center was informed by one of the participants of the hunger strike Ivan Shyla, a lift crane arrived, and workers removed the streamer on the order by policemen.

Policemen entered the apartment where the hunger strike is held. They were interested who take part in the protest, what are the demands of hunger strikers. Policemen received demands of the protesters. Today they are to be submi8tted to the prosecutors office and to Salihorsk city executive committee.

Today Ivan Shyla was served a writ. He is to come to the prosecutors office for an interrogation.

On May 29 the Young Front activists Maxim Siamenchyk, Siarhei Patskevich, Iauhen Miadvedzeu and Ivan Shyla have gone on a hunger strike of protest against criminal prosecution against opposition leaders and Young Front activists, against politically motivated arrests of oppositionists.
