Iury Radzivil Is Released from Minsk Investigative Isolator

The opposition activist Iury Radzivil was arrested three months ago on decision of Minsk Maskouski Borough Court. He was found guilty of violation of article #364 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus Violence or threat of violence towards policeman despite the fact that a policeman from the special squad Almaz shot in his car from Makarov pistol without any legal grounds for it.

The matter is that on 2 March the police conducted a mass seizure of the people who came to support the candidate to the presidential position Aliaksandr Kazulin, who was arrested and beaten during an attempt to come to the so-called All-Belarusian National Assembly that was organized by the Belarusian authorities. Iury Radzivil videoed the events, but when Almaz workers saw it, they started persecuting him. They were dressed in civilian clothes, didnt show him any documents and didnt demand anything from Mr Radzivil. Without any warnings they tried to burst into his car, broke the front window and then started shooting in the wheels.

Iury Radzivil filed an application with the prosecutor of Minsk M.Kulik, demanding to bring a criminal case against the unknown persons who shot from a pistol. However, the prosecutor sanctioned the initiation of a criminal case against the applicant instead.
