Relatives of the people missing in 1999-2000 in Belarus together with international human rights organizations organized a campaign for a UN Convention of Protecting All Violently Missing People

The convention will be considered during the first session of the UN Human Rights Council, which is due on June 19, as reported by Deutsche Welle. The open letter, which is to be proposed to the Council members contains a call for an urgent ratification of the convention, so that it could be passed for ratification to the UN General Assembly. So, The UN Human Rights Council will not only contribute to the elimination of violent kidnapping, but it will strengthen its positions and show its resolution in protecting human rights as well, the address says.
