UBW library to be evicted from ex-Writers House, UBW property distressed

According to the Union of Belarusian Writers, on June 8 at 11 a.m. a court officer accompanied by a representative of the General Economic Board (GEB) of the Presidents Administration took two formal notes: of disposal of rooms # 303, 304, 405 and UBWs library in favor of the GEB; and of inventory of the UBWs property. The reason for that was the courts verdict it ruled to exact BYR 55 mln for renting the building that had been, as a matter of fact, gratuitously transferred to the UBWs possession. The UBW account is empty, and thus the union is pushed to the wall. The main premises are occupied by a unique library. The union applied sent a request to the Presidents library, but it refused to take over the books. As a result of this, the problem remains unsolved thousands of valuable books are nothing for the authorities. There is only one week left for the union to leave the premises.Add commentary
