Today a Ukrainian Citizen Will Be Deported From Belarus

Today a citizen of Ukraine, a 17-years-old Artsem Chistikov is to be deported, the Radio Svaboda informs. Riot policemen preventively detained Artsem on June 5 on October Square together with several other participants of the planned protest action. Opposition activists wanted to hold a picket against deporting of foreign citizens during the presidential campaign in Belarus.In March Belarusian authorities deported more that three dozens of people, among them were citizens of Canada, Poland, Ukraine, Georgia and Russia.
Since June 5 Artsem Chistikov is kept in the special detention center for children in Akrestsin Street, which is situated near the adult detention center. As Artsem is underage, he is to be accompanied by a Ukrainian consul.
