Mahiliou City Trade Union Organization not granted registration

The information is provided by Salidarnasts newspaper (www.gazetaby.com). The decision was made by the city authorities only three and a half months after the application was filed. At the same time, according to the law they should have done it in a months time. The decision was conditioned by the absence of a document certifying the trade unions legal address. The organization has an office rent contract with its legal address, but the authorities considered this insufficient. Aliaksandr Karaliou, lawyer of the Belarussian Trade Union of Radio-electronic Industry Workers in Mahiliou, says: The refusal had no reasons. The law does not demand any legal address certification. We are going to dispute the decision in court.

The organization has some 450 members at present, including representatives of many citys plants, factories and other institutions.
