Independent Mass Media Distributor Barys Khamajda Detained In Viciebsk On July 7

According to the information by Radio Liberty, Khamajda was detained by the policemen in Lenin street, at the place where he usually distributes independent press: Nasa Niva and Vicebski kurjer newspapers and ARCHE magazine.On July 7 international festival “Slavianski bazaar” was opened and Khamajda’s “working place” is situated just on the opposite of summer amphitheatre, main concert venue. In order to hide “an oppositionist” from the eyes of people and especially authorities, the police brought Khamajda to police department and then to isolation ward where he will spend next two days.
