Astraviec Activist Ivan Kruk Arrested

On Sunday July 9, the policemen visited the apartment of Ivan Kruk, democratic activist from Astraviec town, and informed him that the time came to serve imprisonment term. Some time ago Ivan Kruk was sentenced by Lida town court to 6 months of arrest according to article 364 of the Criminal Code (violence over policemen). On June 27 the collegium of Hrodna town on criminal cases considered cassation complaint of Astraviec activist and left the sentence in force. Ivan Kruk lodged a complaint to Hrodna regional court and hoped to remain at liberty before the complaint would be considered at Supreme Court. At the same time a criminal case is renewed against his son, who was charged with theft during electoral campaign. Public human rights defender Kruk thinks the cases against him and his son are made-up and complained about both of them.
On July 10 Ivan Kruk came to the police department. The place where he should serve the imprisonment is still unknown.
