Kisel Filed Suit against Komsomolskaya Pravda

The chairman of the administration of the closed joint-stock company Second National TV Channel (ONT) Grigory Kisel has filed a lawsuit to defend his honour, dignity and business reputation. The reason is an article published in the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda in Belarus under a title ONT Suspected by Prosecutors Office. It was stated in the article that the prosecutors office had brought up an action against the director of the ONT Grigory Kisel. The prosecutors office does not reveal the exact charges, was it embezzlement or misappropriation of state means, the article ran.

It was stated in the lawsuit against the founder of the newspaper, BelKP-Press, that statement was false, and honour, dignity and business reputation of Grigory Kisel are slandered in the eyes of public and his colleagues by that information.

The criminal action, the plaintiff maintains, has not been brought up against him. The order on institution of criminal proceedings had not been presented to him, and the prosecutors office had not carried out any audit of financial records in the Second National TV Channel (ONT).

In line with the Civil Code of Belarus Grigory Kisel demands to announce the facts in the article untrue, to refute them in the newspaper. He demands to pay him moral damages of one billion rubles. The claim amount demanded from the author of the article, Natalya Krivets, is 10 rubles.
