Sympathetic entrepreneurs join the hunger strike

Two entrepreneurs who work at the Brest market Staryi Gorod (Old City) joined the hunger strike of the route taxi owners on July 24.

Our business has nothing to do with transportations, the presidential decree #140 doesnt concern us, - Viachaslau Kukharchuhk, the new striker, told BelaPAN, - but Viktar Chaikouski and me feel obliged to support our colleagues, and we join the hunger strike today. We are convinced, the taxi drivers are right - the law has no retroactive effect& Today taxi drives are facing a problem, tomorrow any other entrepreneur can occur in such a situation.

Owners of route taxis launched the hunger strike on July 5 in Brest; at present 15 people are striking. Taxi drivers, their families and now entrepreneurs as well are protesting against the way the presidential decree #140 of March 20, 2004, on republican tax for importing vehicles with commercial purposes, is interpreted: tax bodies impose the decree on the vehicles imported before the decree was adopted.
