Navapolatsk: Authorities prohibit picket in defence of political prisoners

According to RFE/RLOn 11 August Navapolastsk activists Valery Shauchenka and Ihar Sukharukau appealed to court the actions of Navapolatsk CEC. The reason was the refusal of the local authorities to authorize the pickets in support of political prisoners, which the activists intended to hold everyday since 26 April till 26 June near the city Culture Palace. Violating the political and civil rights of the applicants, the CEC transferred the place of the picket to a desolate park. Now they demand to try the authorities for violation of the law On citizens’ applications.
