Authorities Conceal Information about Aliaksandr Kazulin’s Health

04.09.2006.

According to the press-service of A.Kazulin

Last week Aliaksandr Kazulin met with human rights activists. The former candidate to presidency again emphasized the necessity of submitting additional remarks to the minutes of his trial because of their incompleteness and inaccuracy. The judge A.Rybakou declined the previous petition filed by Kazulin’s lawyer Ihar Rynkevich. In this petition the lawyer asked to prolong the term for attaching remarks to the minutes to 4 September because of the large scope of work to be done and attach to the case the audio recording that was made at the trial by the defense. The judge agreed to prolong the term, but refused to attach the tapes. Now the lawyer intends to get the remarks attached to the case.

The most alarming news is that the state of Kazulin’s case has deteriorated. The results of the medical examination he underwent at the prison hospital are still concealed. It is known only that he had a low pressure, bad cardiogram and analyses. Kazulin is also surprised. ˜Never in my life have I had such a bad health!’, he said. That’s why Ihar Rynkevich also intends to file inquiries with the medical department of Minsk investigative isolator and the hospital.

Drinking water remains a large problem in Kazulin’s life during his stay in the isolator. Despite the insistent attempts of Aliaksandr Kazulin to solve it, only recently drinking water has appeared at the kiosk of the investigative isolator and it is sold only on rare occasions. It is well known that the arrested persons have the right to book food at a restaurant. However, it is still impossible to buy normal water. Such violations of his rights as failure to provide him with drinking water and refusal in receiving copies of the documents that come to the investigative isolator from the prosecutor’s office made Aliaksandr Kazulin apply to the supervising prosecutor. However, this right is also ignored by the authorities.
