Lida: Authorities Ban Meeting For Freedom and Independence

According to the BPF press-serviceOn 6 September Lida City Executive Committee refused to authorize the meeting For Freedom and Independence which the local democratic activists intended to hold on 16 September with participation of Aliaksandr Milinkevich. In the committee’s answer it was that during the time which the organizers specified in their application some sportive even would take place at the stadium where they wanted to hold the action.
˜We are going to change the time and place and then apply for authorization of our meeting once again’, said the chair of Lida branch of Belarusian People’s Front Stanislau Sudnik. ˜The same thing happens to other cities of Belarus, in which the authorities ban similar actions under different pretexts’, he added.
