Belaaziorsk, Haradok, and Minsk city councilors campaign for support of Ales Chyhir

They plan to hold pickets on October 4-6. On September 15 Ales Chyhir, history teacher and member of Babruisk city council was sentenced to 10 days of jail. Babruisk court found him guilty of holding an unauthorized action on August 31 and disobedience to police officers. The teacher protested against the decision of the local education department to continue a working contract with him. Ales Chyhir has 3 under-age kids. His wife is on maternal leave. The unemployed teacher chained himself to a post near the building of Babruisk municipality. He is convinced he has been fired because of his active participation in the last presidential election and support of the single democratic candidate Alexander Milinkevich.
It’s worth mentioning that he is the third council member in Babruisk, who was fired from work. Fiodar varonich was dismissed from the post of the head of Babruisk inter-district committee of state control. Viachaslau Svizunou lost the post of head of Leninski branch of housing and communal services company.
