New Arrests on October Square

According to Young Front press service, in the evening of September 24 a small but a very important action was carried out on the central square of Minsk.
Young people came to the square at 8 p.m. and lit the candles of Solidarity. They silently sat on the ground right on the place where the tent city was located 6 months ago. In several minutes the police dispersed the action participants. KGB officers made a video-recording of the action. The police detained 8 people and took them to Centralny police station. After several hours of “personal identification” all the action participants were released. There were 3 members of Young Front among the detained.
Actions of Solidarity with the political prisoners are carried out all over the country. This event is also an element of the campaign started by Young Front in support of its leader. Zmitser Dashkevich, one of the active participants of the tent city is now being kept in cusody at Valadarka detention center.
Recently Mahilou activists of Young Front hang a banner “Freedom to Dashkevich!”. The same slogan and words “SS = KGB” appeared in front of the building of the local KGB department.
