Worker of Belshyna (Belarusian Tyre) Combine Goes on Hunger-strike

On 4 October Alena Zakhozhaia, activist of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union and worker of Babruisk tyre combine, declared a hunger-strike. She demands that the administration of the combine stops discriminating the workers who are members of the independent trade union (there are 50 such workers at the combine).

She also sent a letter to A.Lukashenka. There she writes that despite the 30-year record of service she remains undefended from persecution from the side of the combine administration and that since May she and other members of the independent trade union haven’t received any salary bonuses. The administration of Belshyna states there is no discrimination of members of the independent trade union at the enterprise.
