Pinsk City Court Fines BPF Member Aliaksandr Auseienka

07.12.2006.

On 29 March the border guards detained on the Ukrainian border the member of the Belarusian People’s Front Party Aliaksandr Auseienka for trafficking stickers and agitation materials for democratic candidates to presidency.

On 6 December Pinsk City Court considered the administrative case that had been brought on this fact and ruled to fine Mr Auseienka 1 550 000 rubles (about 700 US dollars). In his interview to RFE/RL Ales Auseienka expressed his intention to appeal this ruling to the UN Committee on Human Rights after going through Brest regional court and the Supreme Court of Belarus.

In 1990-ies Ales Auseienka was a deputy of Pinsk city deputy soviet. Now he is expecting the state registration of his candidacy to a deputy position, because he has collected the necessary number of signatures in his support. Besides, he already has more than 300 signatures for his nomination to the next Congress of democratic forces of Belarus.
