Chair of Minsk Regional BRSM Branch Ruslan Trukhan Violates Electoral Laws

Two weeks ago Ruslan Trukhan, one of the candidates to Slutsk town deputy soviet, chair of Minsk regional branch of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (pro-governmental organization, also known as BRSM), started illegal agitation for his candidacy. There are fly-sheets with his biographical information and several photos in all post-boxes of the electoral circuit where he runs.

Residents of the circuit reported about it to another candidate the BPF member Vital Amialkovich.

‘It is revolting that Trukhan started illegal agitation in our city’, Amialkovich said. ‘I have shown Trukhan’s fly-sheet to the official of Minsk city executive committee who is responsible for elections, but received no answer. Now we decided to compose a complaint. I understand that there is little sense in it, because such flyers are printed in an office near the one to which I will bring the complaint. It’s quite offensive, because if it was a representative of democratic forces who started pre-term agitation he would be excluded from the electoral race right on. Nevertheless, I will do everything possible to inform as many citizens as possible about such dishonest steps of the authorities,’ he added.
