Polish MPs Demand Release of Belarusian Political Prisoners

Commission for Foreign Affairs of the Polish Sejm addressed the Belarusian authorities, demanding to immediately release political prisoners, including Alexander Kazulin. Wife of the former presidential candidate Iryna Kazulina asked for such an address.

Robert Tyszkievicz, member of the Commission and a chairperson of the parliamentary group of solidarity with Belarus told RFE/RL: “In my opinion, we have to work in two directions. On one hand, we should press on the Belarusian authorities so that they implement the demands of the European Union, including the release of the Belarusian political prisoners. On the other hand, we should support the pro-democratic opposition”.

The Polish Senate is going to approve a similar appeal soon.
