Entrepreneurs Can’t Rent Conference Room for Their Forum

On March 27 head of entrepreneurs’ association Perspektyva Anatol Shumchanka told Radio Racyja about the problems with holding forums of businessmen planned for April and May.

Perpektyva planned to hold its forums in Vitebsk, Brest, and Homel. The first of them – “Prospects of the Entrepreneurs in Belarus” – was supposed to take place on April 16 in Vitebsk.

-- we had an agreement with the administration of Vitebsk trade union education center. My deputy Anatol Shapaval sent invitations to all representatives of the “vertical” in Vitebsk to attend the forum. Immediately after that the education center administration cancelled the agreement on the ground that they planned to reconstruct the rooms in April.

According to Shumchanka, the refusal to provide a room for the forum also means the refusal of the authorities to hold a dialog with individual entrepreneurs.

-- By this they force us to express our views with the help of other means – rallies, pickets, etc. – Shumchanka told Radio Racyja.
