Mahiliou: Court Refuses to Punish Police

Earlier the activists filed a suit against workers of Mahiliou traffic police. On 16 December 2006 they wanted to go Chernihiv via Minsk. 10 kilometers before Bialynichy the traffic policeman Uladzimir Stelmakhau stopped the mini bus where activists were traveling, and referring to invalidity of documents of the driver ordered the people to return to Mahiliou.
The activists charged the police with the attempt to thwart their visit to the statute conference of the Union of Left parties of Belarus. Actions of policemen are considered as violation of constitutional rights by the activists.
