Mazyr: Rock-concert Dedicated to Victory Day Is Cancelled

As HRC Viasna learned, a rock concert dedicated to the Victory Day, 9 May, was to have taken place on 10 May in Mazyr. Two Minsk bands, Indiga and Partyzan, and two bands from Mazyr were to have performed there.

Despite the fact that the hall of Mazyr Oil-Processing Plant has been rented in advance, the culture department of Homel regional executive committee refused to provide the original of the ‘tour bill’ which gives the right to officially register the tickets and sell them. The officials explained their actions by an oral order of the deputy chair of Mazyr executive committee Feliks Haliuk. Till lately Haliuk has been the chair of the culture department of the executive committee. Now he refuses to give any explanations and only threatens those asking with the police. Mazyr executive committee, in its turn, answered that it did nothing to prohibit the rock concert.
