Salihorsk: Under-aged Activist Ivan Shyla Becomes Suspect in another Young Front Case

As HRC Viasna learned, in Salihorsk the prosecutor on the most important cases of Minsk regional prosecutor’s office Vitold Aliakseyeu interrogated the 16-year-old activist Ivan Shyla as a suspect in the case which was brought under article 193.1 of the Criminal Code by Minsk prosecutor’s office on 10 May. The interrogation was conducted in presence of Shyla’s lawyer, father and social pedagogue. The investigator asked about Ivan’s participation in Young Front, his functions there, whether he knew Barys Haretski, Zmitser Khvedaruk, Aleh Korban, Nasta Palazhanka and Aliaksei Yanusheuski (the trial of which has been appointed on 30 May), Nasta Azarka and Pavel Krasouski. He also asked the activist about his participation in Chernobyl Way rally, which was authorized by the city administration.

The investigator also tried to interrogated Ivan’s father, but the latter refused referring to article 27 of the Constitution according to which no one can be obliged to testify against him/herself or his/her relatives.
