Pickets against Staff Reduction to Be Held in Pruzhany

Activists of the For Freedom movement initiated the pickets. According to Aliaksei Bohush, one of the action organizers, 50 employees of the local communal services were dismissed on grounds of redundancy, in conjunction with transition of gas-run boiler houses to firewood. The families of the dismissed employees are left without means.
Big companies in Pruzhany – the radio plant and the concentrated milk factory – are also in a difficult situation, reports Alexander Milinkevich’s web-site:
-- In this situation we are indignant at the cynical behavior of the central and local authorities. Instead of modernizing the industry and investing into the factories, instead of creating new jobs, the authorities organize show-off Dazhynki festivals at the cost of the enterprises. Huge ice palaces and sports buildings are built, and the wonderful Belavezha woods are cut to heat the buildings, Aliaksei Bohush told Radio Racyja.
